Eddy is the daughter of Brian and Melanie Eddy of rural Clarke County. She will be heading off for Central College in Pella this fall to major in elementary education.

Eddy has been involved in many activities in school and out of school during her high-school days and has been able to maintain a high grade-point average throughout the years putting her in the top 10 percent of her class. She is known to have a positive attitude, genuine love for working with young people, first-class work ethic and has outstanding leadership qualities that give her a drive to organize and succeed in getting the job done.

Eddy is well-rounded as an athlete, musician, teacher and mentor and role model. Her plan after getting her bachelor’s degree is to come back to her home area to teach for a while, and then pursue a master’s degree in administration.

Clarke County Farm Bureau congratulates Ellen Lupkes for being one of the recipients of the local Clarke County Farm Bureau $250 scholarship.

Lupkes is the daughter of Tim and Beva Lupkes, Clarke County Farm Bureau members, and attends high school at I-35 in Truro. Her continuing education plan is to enroll in the genetics program at Iowa State University. This will be a big step in fulfilling her goal of giving back to the agricultural industry, which she has been a part as she has grown up on the family farm helping with the crop and livestock production.

Lupkes has taken her academics seriously ranking in the upper 15 percent of the class, consistently getting good grades, having good attendance and being involved in school activities.

Her leadership skills has shown as she is the president of the I-35 FFA chapter, is the student council representative for her class and serves as captain of the volleyball team, wrestling cheerleading team and track team this year.

She is a well-respected student and citizen in the community, and was a host to a foreign exchange student last year, which expanded her horizons.
