Clarke tennis teams improve to 3-0

Both Clarke tennis teams rolled to 3-0 records for the season, defeating both Chariton and Centerville.

The Lady Indians cruised to a 9-0 win over Chariton on April 2, losing just 11 games along the way.

Kylar McCann (No. 1), Libby Bemis (No. 2) and Kacey Klemesrud (No. 5) all won in shutouts of 4-0, 8-0.

The doubles teams of McCann-Bemis and Tracy Morgan-Cassidy Bierbrodt also won in 4-0, 8-0 matches.

Morgan (No. 3) won 4-1, 8-1 while Bierbrodt (No. 4) won 4-1, 8-2. Macey Snell won a 4-2, 8-2 match at No. 6 singles.

Klemesrud and Snell picked up a 4-1, 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Clarke girls tennis team followed that dual up with a 9-0 win over Centerville on April 4, losing just four games during singles play.

Bemis, Bierbrodt and Snell each won 4-0, 8-0 shutouts in singles play, while McCann won 4-0, 8-2 and Morgan and Klemesrud each won 4-0, 8-1.

The doubles teams also cruised to victory, as McCann and Bemis won 4-1, 8-1 and the doubles teams of Morgan-Bierbrodt and Klemesrud-Snell each won 4-2, 8-2.

Boys

The Clarke boys defeated Chariton by a team score of 6-3.

Yahia Aly (No. 3), Johannes Zehnter (No. 4), Jacob Redman (No. 5) and Ali Aly (No. 6) each picked up singles victories for the Indians.

Yahia Aly scored a 4-2, 8-4 win as Zehnter rolled 4-1, 8-2. Redman picked up a 4-3, 8-4 win and Ali Aly won 4-1, 8-2.

The doubles team of Colin Morris and Jared Jamison won a 4-1, 8-2 match at No. 1 doubles, while Redman and Ali Aly won a 4-0, 8-1 match at No. 3 doubles.

The Indians had an easier time with Centerville on April 4, winning 8-1.

Morris won a 4-0, 8-0 match at No. 1 singles over David Sheets, while Jamison picked up a 4-3, 9-7 win at No. 2 singles over Zack Bogle.

Johannes Zehnter won a 4-0, 8-0 match at No. 4 singles, while Redman won 4-1, 8-1 at No. 5 singles and Ali Aly won 4-1, 8-3 at No. 6 singles.

The Indians swept the doubles matches as Morris and Jamison won 4-1, 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Yahia Aly and Zehnter picked up a 4-2, 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles and Redman and Ali Aly won 4-1, 8-3 win at doubles.

Clarke returns to action today with the boys at Centerville and the girls hosting Centerville.
