Roadrunners win POI wrestling crown

CD finishes sixth

CORYDON —The Interstate 35 Roadrunners won the Pride of Iowa wrestling tournament Saturday at Wayne High School.

I-35 scored 183.5 points, beating out Bedford/Lenox, who was second with 151.5 points. Central Decatur finished sixth with 111.5 points, 17 points behind Mount Ayr in fifth place.

Champions for Interstate 35 included Ethan Jones at 182 pounds, Tyler Lester at 195 and Lonnie Harper at 220. Jones and Harper each won by fall in the finals, while Lester won a 3-2 decision over Corning’s Zach Barton.

Austin Pontier (106), Paul Queck (126), Sal Arzani (152) and Tommy Bregar (170) finished runner-up for the Roadrunners.

For Central Decatur, Dillon Delong was the highest placewinner, finishing runner-up at 285 to Mount Ayr’s Joe Ricker. Colton Ranney (132) and Jacob Roach (220) each won in his respective third-place match.
