Clarke fell to Collins-Maxwell/Baxter 35-6 here Friday, despite the return to the lineup of starting quarterback Dalton Sweeney, who had been out of action since Sept. 7 with mononucleosis.

The Indians put together their best rushing game since early in the season, running for 205 yards. But, it was only good enough for one touchdown, as Junior Morales scampered in from 9 yards out, accounting for the only Clarke score of the game.

The precision passing attack for Collins-Maxwell/Baxter proved to be too much for the Indians, as juinor quarterback Zach Samson complete 11-of-15 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns.

Sophomore receiver Bryce Kemp hauled in eight of those passes for 167 yards and both touchdowns.

Samson proved to be a dual threat, running for 81 yards and two scores as well.

Clarke did not turn the ball over in the game, but could not break through and finish off drives with points.

Sweeney passed 6-20 for 70 yards in his return to the lineup, while also running for 68 yards on nine carries to lead the team.

Morales averaged more than 10 yards per carry in picking up 32 yards on three carries. Junior Skylar Lane finished the game with 55 yards on 11 carries.

Morales also led the team in receiving, with 53 yards on four receptions. Collins-Maxwell/Baxter held star receiver Dylan Diveney to just 17 yards on two catches.

Diveney did lead the team in tackles with nine.

The Indians, now 3-6 overall and 0-5 in Class 2A District 6, host Interstate 35 (0-8, 0-5) in the season finale on Friday.
