Dam to Dam attracts area runners

Several runners from Clarke County and the surrounding area headed to Des Moines last weekend to take part in the 30th Annual Dam to Dam Run. The races, one a 20k and the other a 5k, were held Saturday, May 30.

Andrew Hamer of Murray had the top finish for area runners in the 20k, as he finished ninth in the men’s 17-19 age division with a time of one-hour 24-minutes 6-seconds.

Other area runners in the 20k and their times were: Kristin Kass, New Virginia, 1:39:46; Codi Mummaw, Osceola, 1:50:55; Elisabeth Reynoldson, Osceola, 1:53:43; Trish Lemke, Osceola, 1:57:26; Melissa Phillips, St. Charles, 1:58:02; Stephen McCarl, Osceola, 2:02:35; Lindsay Wade, Weldon, 1:40:59; Alisha Halvorsen, Osceola, 2:29:14; Brenda McCarl, Osceola, 2:27:10; Chris Bott, Osceola, 3:03:05; Rose Olson, Murray, 2:53:59; Shawna Ellis, New Virginia, 2:46:14; Katy Kass, New Virginia, 1:45:03; Crystal St. Clair, New Virginia, 2:34:49; Joey Hullinger, Leon, 1:42:12; Doug May, Woodburn, 2:00:20; Amantha May, Woodburn, 2:46:02.

In the 5k run, Ben Merrick of Truro had the top area time, with a clocking of 21:43. Kristi Gwinn of Osceola had the next fastest time with a run in 28:53.
