No citations were issued following an accident on Jan. 18 in the 1400 block of Truman Road.
According to an Osceola police report, Cooper Smith of Osceola was driving a 2009 Hyundai Electra westbound on Truman Road when he rear-ended a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban owned by Clarke Community School District and driven by Robert Andrew of Osceola. Smith told the responding officer that the roadway was icy, and he had attempted to stop but was unable to; Smith also felt that the other vehicle had stopped abruptly.
Andrew told the officer that he was transporting three students home, and had stopped to address an issue between two of the students, at which time he was rear-ended. Andrew then took one student home before returning and pulling up behind Smith’s vehicle to await law enforcement. The responding officer noted that the roadway appeared to be wet, and that it was sleeting.
Damage is estimated at $5,000 to the 2009 Hyundai and $500 to the 2015 Chevrolet.

No citations were issued following an accident on Jan. 19 in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street.
According to an Osceola police report, Karen Sarvia Gomez was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima around a parked vehicle on East Jefferson when a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Alexandra Nash of Osceola, was exiting an alleyway. Nash was unable to stop due to the packed snow/ice, and slid into Sarvia Gomez.
Damage is estimated at $1,000 to the 2015 Nissan and $1,500 to the 2004 Hyundai.
