Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 5:13 p.m. May 18 in the 900 block of North Main Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Christopher Doyle Hutt, 33, of Creston, driving a 2006 Chevrolet hauling a small utility trailer stopped for traffic to make left hand turn, Dana Ann Hembry, 71, of Osceola, driving a 2014 Buick stopped behind Hutt’s vehicle when she was struck from the rear by Blexley Jaye Burton, 19, of Osceola, driving a 2000 Buick. The impact caused Hembry’s vehicle to strike Hutt’s trailer.

Estimated damage was $1,200 to Hutt’s vehicle, $8,000 to Hembry’s vehicle and $3,000 to Burton’s vehicle.

Burton was transported by private vehicle to the Clarke County Ambulance.

No citations were issued after an accident 6:30 a.m. May 19 at 2010 W. Clay St.

According to an Osceola Police report, Gerry Louis Mims, 62, of St. Louis, MO, driving a 2016 Peterbuilt semi struck a legally parked unoccupied 2016 Freightliner semi in the neighboring parking stall as he was pulling his truck and trailer out of his spot.

Estimated damage was $3,000 to the 2016 Freightliner semi.

No citations were issued after an accident 10:20 a.m. May 19 at 117 Mateer Dr.

According to an Osceola Police report, Mary Ellen Kendall, 74, of Chariton, driving a 2016 Gindy for Southern Iowa Trolley was backing into a parking stall and did not see the legally parked unoccupied 2010 Ford in the neighboring spot and struck it.

Estimated damage was $3,000 to the 2010 Ford.

Jennifer Leann Tidman, 35, of Osceola, was cited for following too closely after an accident 7:40 a.m. May 20 at the intersection of East Garfield Street and North Main Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Tidman, driving a 2005 Chevrolet, struck the vehicle she was following, Thomas Joseph Kedley, 33, of Osceola, driving a 2020 Jeep as he stopped for traffic.

Estimated damage was $1,000 to Kedley’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 5:04 p.m. May 20 at the intersection of Pearl Street and South Main Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Marie Eugenia Pedro Francisco, 33, of Osceola, driving a 2012 Kia was stopped on South Main Street waiting to make a left hand turn onto East Pearl Street when her vehicle was struck from the rear by Matthew Lane Dudney, 18, of Weldon, driving a 2004 Ford after seeing Francisco’s vehicle too late and slamming on his brakes.

Estimated damage was $500 to Francisco’s vehicle and $100 to Dudney’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 1:13 p.m. Friday at the Interstate 35 Casey’s General Store truck stop.

According to an Osceola Police report, Matthew C. Bailey, 60, of Symmes, OH, driving a 2017 Chrysler was driving onto the truck scale when the driver’s side front and rear tires fell off the concrete ledge of the scale then came back onto the concrete scale and ran into the pole. The pole that was hit was a support pole for a sign on the scale.

Estimated damage was $50 to Casey’s General Store’s semi scale sign support pole and $3,500 to Bailey’s vehicle.

Bailey was conscious and alert but not coherent when officers arrived and was later transported to the Clarke County Hospital.

No citations were issued after an accident 5:45 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Annette Marie Lankford, 50, of Van Wert, driving a 2005 Nissan southbound in the 2400 block of Highway 69 was struck by a deer that entered the roadway out of the west ditch.

Estimated damage was $5,000.

Lankford was transported to the Clarke County Hospital.
