Linda Sue Hamilton, age 75, of Osceola, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on March 31, 2026. Born on April 27, 1950, in Osceola, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.
Linda received her education at Clarke Community High School, graduating in 1968. Shortly thereafter, she joined the United States Navy and served her country with distinction during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of PNSN E3. Her service was a testament to her dedication and patriotism.
On May 29, 1970, Linda was united in marriage to Frank D. Hamilton in Leon, Iowa. Together, they traveled extensively, visiting twenty-six states and two countries, Guam and Japan, during Frank’s Naval career. Their adventures were filled with love and cherished memories.
Linda’s professional life was marked by dedication and leadership. She served as the manager of the Navy Federal Credit Union in Guam and later worked as an Escrow Officer for Northwest Mortgage. Her colleagues remember her as a skilled professional with an unwavering commitment to excellence.
A woman of varied interests, Linda found joy in volunteering and engaging with her community. She was a proud member of the Glad Hatters Red Hat Society in Osceola and played a key role in coordinating blood drives in Clarke County. Her contributions as a volunteer at Cross Ministries in Osceola and her membership with the Davis-Pence American Legion Post #69 exemplified her commitment to serving others.
Linda enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including gardening, quilting, and rock hunting. She loved spending time with her family, hosting weekly luncheons at the Family Table or Woodburn Cafe, and doing puzzles. Her dogs brought her great joy, and she fondly remembered picnics on the beach while stationed in Guam with Frank.
Preceded in death by her parents, Mary Geraldine Ruth and Walter Arden Ruth; brothers, Jerry, Dennis, and Donald Wayne Ruth; and sister, Dianne Ruth, Linda leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank D. Hamilton of Osceola, IA; sons Jeffrey D. (D.J.) Hamilton of Portland, OR, and Joshua D. Hamilton of Osceola, IA; granddaughters Anisah and Zoeh Hamilton of Tigard, OR; brothers Charles Robin Ruth, Bill (Kathy) Ruth, Steve Ruth, Randy Ruth, Scott (Becky) Ruth, Terry Ruth, and Ronald Ruth; sisters Janice (Ivan) Deemer, Carol Ruble, Donna Ruth-Hines, and Mary (Dennis) Burkheimer; and numerous other relatives and dear friends.
Services to honor Linda’s life will be held at Smyrna Cemetery on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 10:30 am. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Kale Funeral Home.
