Jean Marie Penick, daughter of Malcolm James and Florance Opal (Eivins) Baker was born September 28, 1a929 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home in Osceola, Iowa at 93 years of age.

Jean has lived her life in Osceola, attending Osceola schools. She was united in marriage to James Albert Penick on September 28, 1947, they were blessed with four children, Peggy, James L., Kenneth and Rick. Together they enjoyed farming and raising their family. They moved to town and she has lived in the same home for 63 years.

Jean enjoyed staying busy, sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and helping James on the farm. She enjoyed going shopping, visiting with the neighborhood kids, watching the birds and her pets.

Those relatives who preceded Jean in death were her husband James Albert Penick, son, James Lyle Penick, daughter, Peggy Penick, parents, Malcolm and Florance Baker, sisters, Jeanette Knapp, Joanne Edgington, and Doris Banister.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory; son, Kenneth (Marilyn) Penick of Murray, IA, son, Rick (Kristy) Penick of Ellston, IA, daughter-in-law, Connie Penick of Osceola, IA, grandson, Dustin (Gabrielle) Penick of Murray, IA, grandson, Drew (Rebekah) Penick of New Braunfels, TX, grandson, Jerad (Amy) Penick of Ankeny, IA, grandson, Jacob Penick of Council Bluffs, IA, grandson, Jesse Penick of Mt Ayr, IA, granddaughter, Manda (Colter) Wright of Osceola, IA, granddaughter, Courtney  (Trent) Denney of Osceola, IA, grandson, Nick (Tiffany) Penick of Osceola, IA, granddaughter, Kelli (Jim) Coombs of Osceola, IA, 13 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, brothers Ray (Carolyn) Houston and Bill (Deb) Houston all of Bettendorf, IA as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation opened at 10 am on Tuesday with her family greeting friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Tuesday evening at Kale Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Wednesday November 30, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating.

Interment followed in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.
