Mike Burkhead

Micheal  Burkhead, son of Gerald Dean Burkhead and Melody Kay (Seals) Burkhead was born November 19, 1967 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Kavanagh on 56th in Des Moines at 54 years of age.

Mike received his education at Des Moines Tech High School and later worked as a plumber for Thrasher Service in Des Moines for thirty years.

He was united in marriage to Tina Marie Benedict on July 16, 1994 at the New Virginia United Methodist Church and three children, Katelynn, Joshua and Adam blessed this union.

He was a member of South Central Iowa Pool League and the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #33.

Mike enjoyed fishing, camping, almost anything with nature. He enjoyed pictures of sunsets, and watching the weather for Meteor Showers. Also, vacations to Minnesota with his best friend.

Those relatives who preceded Mike in death were his father, Gerald Dean Burkhead, Jr.; brother, Matthew Burkhead; grandfather, Gerald D Burkhead, Sr.; grandmother, Alice Halvorsen; grandfather, George Seals and grandmother, Retha Seals.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Tina Burkhead of New Virginia, IA, mother, Melody Kay Burkhead of  Ottumwa, Ia, daughter, Katelynn M. (Dillon) Spurling of Hedrick, IA; sons, Joshua Burkhead of Ames, IA, and Adam K. Burkhead of Norwalk, IA; brothers, Jim (Christina) Burkhead of Urbandale, IA, John (Peggy) Burkhead of Des Moines, IA; sister, Patty (Tim) Elliott of Washington, IA, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Monday August 8, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Mattson officiating.

The family greeted friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Kale Funeral Home.
