Darlene Henrichs, 88, of the Creston and Thayer areas, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Marty Burgus will officiate. The service will be livestreamed under events at www.powersfh.com.

Open visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established in her name. Online condolences may be given at the tribute wall at www.powersfh.com.

Burial will be in Murray Cemetery.

Ethel Darlene (Conklin) Henrichs, daughter of James Glen Conklin and Ethel Isabel (David) Conklin, was born March 21, 1933, in Orrick, Missouri. She graduated from Thayer High School in 1951.

On June 3, 1951, Darlene married Dwayne Stephen Henrichs in Osceola. Darlene lived all of her married life in Union County. In addition to be a homemaker and farmwife, Darlene also worked for Winnebago in Lorimor for 14 years and sold Avon Products for 20 years. In the early years, Darlene worked in 4-H Leadership.

Darlene was a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church of Thayer, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and church pianist. Darlene had also been a member of the Eastern Star, part of a Pinochle club and spent some time working with the County Election Board — Jones Township.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Dwayne Henrichs of Creston; two sons, Stephen (Patti Jo) Henrichs of Murray and Jerry (Billie Jo) Henrichs of Thayer; two daughters, Robin Cochley of Afton and Pamela (Raymond) Negley of Osceola;

Eight grandchildren: Matt (Gwen) Henrichs and Jesse (Crystal) Henrichs, both of Murray; Charlie Cochley of Afton; David (DeAnne) Negley of Winterset, Kim (Brian) Pollard of Woodburn; Jill (Robert) DeHeer of Boone; Hannah (Doug) North of Creston and Sarah (Albert) Trevino of Kansas City, Mo.;

Twenty-two great-grandchildren: Rebecca, McKayla, Heidi, David Michael, Katelyn, Megan, Sammie, Amanda, Christina, Brennan, Braydon, Madison, Natalie, Abi, Sawyer, Vincent, Corbin, Amelia, Phoebe, Victoria, Willow and Noah.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Jamie Henrichs.
