The Clarke Electric Cooperative Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Chad McIntosh as the cooperative’s next Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer. Chad will assume this role following the retirement of the current CEO, David Opie, at the end of May 2026.

Clarke Electric Cooperative is a member‑owned electric distribution cooperative proudly serving more than 5,000 members across south‑central Iowa. The cooperative is governed by a nine‑member board elected by and from the membership.
After a thoughtful and thorough search process, the Board selected a leader who understands the cooperative’s mission and is well-equipped to guide Clarke Electric into the future while honoring its longstanding commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric service.
Chad brings strong cooperative leadership experience with more than 28 years at Clarke Electric and has a deep appreciation for the cooperative principles that guide our work. He began his career in May of 1998 as an apprentice lineman and steadily advanced through the ranks to journeyman lineman, construction foreman, and ultimately Manager of Operations, gaining valuable hands-on experience at every level. As a native of Osceola, he also has a personal connection to the communities served by Clarke Electric and a sincere commitment to the people who make this cooperative strong.
Board President Ed White shared: “Selecting a CEO is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board. After a careful and thoughtful process, we are confident that Chad is the right leader to guide Clarke Electric into the future while continuing to serve our members and communities with integrity, dedication, and respect.”
