Darlene (Moser) Jackson passed away July 26th at Southern Hills Specialty Care at the age of 94.  She was born in Fedora, South Dakota on October 17, 1925 to Fred and Olive (Bush) Moser.

They moved to a farm near Weldon where she attended Lone Star Country School and graduated from Garden Grove High School, then attending AIB Business School and working at Solar Air Craft as a secretary during the war.  Darlene took a position at Des Moines National Bank until her marriage to Richard Jackson in 1947, three children blessed this union.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, raising her family and helping on the farm alongside her husband gave her great enjoyment.

Cooking was her expression of “Love” for family and friends.  Comfort foods and farm style cooking were her specialty.  Darlene made amazing pies and took such pride in her crusty breads and rolls.  She enjoyed gardening and took delight in preparing family dinners.

Hobbies included photography, oil painting, dancing to the big band sound and traveling with her husband.

Darlene was a member of the Smyrna Friends Church and also a 50 year member of the Ophir Chapter 267 Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1968.  She also volunteered as a 4H leader, Weldon Community Center and countless organizations.

Those relatives preceding her death were her parents, her husband of 63 years Richard Jackson, sisters Vera Perryman and Ellen Hacker.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cheryl (Bob) Peckler, Rick (Joy) Jackson, Randy (Pam) Jackson.  Grandchildren, Jen (Robert) Tidman, Danielle Jackson, Joni (Brett) Readout, Molly (Kyle) Audlehelm and step grandson Paul (Robin) Woods.  Great Grandchildren, Mallory and Amelia Tidman, Lindy, Hallie and Emmy Readout, Blake Audlehelm and step great grandson Jackson Woods, as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.  Her kindness and love will be forever missed.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Friday July 31, 2020 at 10:30 am with Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiating.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Smyrna Cemetery, Clarke County.
