COVID-19 death confirmed in Clarke County

The Clarke County Department of Public Health today announced the first death associated with novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the county. The individual was an older adult.

“We wish to extend our sympathy to this individual’s family,” said Clarke County Public Health Director Mackenzie Nelson “Clarke County Public Health and all of our key partners throughout the county and state continue to work to limit the spread and impact of this virus in our communities.”

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Clarke County Public Health have identified 14 additional cases of COVID-19 in the county since June 3rd. This is a total of 72 cases in Clarke County and 47 people have recovered. All of the other 25 cases are being isolated. Active cases are identified as:

Child (0-17): 0

Adult (18-40): 9

Middle Age (41-60): 9

Older Adult (61-80): 5

Elderly Adult (81+): 2

Community spread continues throughout Clarke County. Please continue to social distance, practice good hygiene, wash your hands and use face masks when out in the public. If you come into contact with a known positive COVID-19 case, you will be asked to isolate for 14 days from last exposure (even with a negative test).
