Osceola Police Department shares concerns and hope in the face of COVID-19

All of us know that we are in middle of a new page in modern history and memory. That said, it is a page that will be written then turned. We as a society and a community will endure what is before us, come through and go on as we always have.

Your first responders, Osceola Police, Clarke County Sheriff, all of the fire departments, Clarke County Ambulance, Clarke County Public Health, Clarke County Hospital and Emergency Management have met and continue to meet regularly to gather the best and most current information possible and to create a workable plan that encompasses best and worst case scenarios. It is important to know those things are happening and continue to happen.

We are all aware of the personal protection suggestions of wearing a disposable mask, no handshaking and practicing social distancing which manifests itself by the cancelling of large activities and by when we meet or gather trying to remain at least 6 feet from others, stay home if you are sick and finally, wash your hands often.

But what can we do TOGETHER? We need to stay calm and be reasonable. Remain the civil, caring law abiding people we are here in Clarke County. Check on your friends and neighbors, from a distance, and help them if possible. Reasonable you ask? Yes reasonable. Especially in shopping. Whatever you buy everyone else needs too. By being reasonable and buying just one extra of what we need preserves and prolongs the supply for everyone. Panic buying only benefits a few and perpetuates panic. Remember whatever you buy lots of, like TP or antibiotic wipes, soap, anything, there are others who need those very provisions as well.

Again, this is unchartered territory for us all. We as friends and neighbors will get through this. It will require the tried and true methods of patience, calm and order. Our local governments, law enforcement and first responders are all working together to provide continuity for our communities. All of us together, working together, for the good of us all.
