Alliant Energy named a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality”

CEDAR RAPIDS — Alliant Energy's perfect score on the 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) reflects the company's commitment to employees and others in the LGBTQ+ community.

The CEI is the premier benchmarking survey and report on LGBTQ+ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

The CEI evaluatesnon-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ+ community.

Alliant Energy satisfied all of the CEI criteria, scored a 100 percent ranking and was designated a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality for the third year in a row.

“We are determined to be a place where people can be themselves – their whole selves – and contribute their very best,” said Anne Carter, Alliant Energy’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion. “This score is an expression of how we live our Care for Others Value: Together we create a workplace where people feel like they belong and can use their unique backgrounds, talents and perspectives to their fullest potential.”

Alliant Energy is particularly proud of their Equality Alliance Employee Resource Group that promotes a safe and inclusive workplace for LGBTQ+ employees and engages allies. They provide insight and inspire change on company policies and practices, educate fellow employees and strengthen ties with LGBTQ+ organizations in their communities.

“Companies know that protecting their LGBTQ+ employees and customers from discrimination is not just the right thing to do– it is also the best business decision,” said HRC President Alphonso David.
