Fry appointed Chairman of Health and Human Services Budget Committee

DES MOINES – House Speaker Linda Upmeyer (R-Clear Lake) recently announced that Rep. Joel Fry (R-Osceola) will serve as the Chairman of the House Health and Human Services Budget Subcommittee during the 88th General Assembly.

“It is an honor and privilege to be selected by Speaker Upmeyer to serve in this capacity,” said Rep. Fry. “My focus at the State House as well as in my private work is to work with citizens every day around issues they are facing in their personal lives. I look forward to continuing that work and dedication as it relates to the Health and Human Services budget.”

Fry has been a member of the Human Resources Committee since his first term in the Iowa House, most recently serving as the committee Chairman since 2017. He has been a member of the budget subcommittee for the last two years and previously served from 2011-2013.

“After Chairing the Human Resources Committee the previous two years, Rep. Fry understands the challenges of Iowa’s most vulnerable citizens. He brings the critical knowledge and expertise that is needed to effectively lead this budget subcommittee,” said Speaker Upmeyer.
