Council Bluffs search for possible gunshot victim

COUNCIL BLUFFS — On Sept. 22 at 8:56 a.m., officers of the Council Bluffs Police Department responded to 901 North 35th St., Featherstone Apartments, for a 911 call regarding a reported a gunshot victim.

Responding officers determined the call had originated from the apartment of a family member of Devon Seth Hunt, 22. These family members told officers they discovered Hunt sitting on their back patio with a wound to his abdomen. Hunt told family members he had been shot.

When 911 was called for an ambulance, Hunt attempted to wrestle the phone away from family members, then fled the area on foot. Officers conducted a search of the area with the assistance of a police K-9; he was not located during the search.

As a precautionary measure, several schools in the area were placed on “lockout” status as officers searched the area for Hunt. This “lockout” lasted for approximately 80 minutes.

Hunt does have outstanding arrest warrants for unrelated incidents. At this time, investigators are unable to confirm that Hunt was in fact shot and it is unknown how or where Hunt received the injury to his abdomen. This case remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division.
