Harold Harger Eagle Grove

Harold Wayne Harger, 80, of Eagle Grove died Dec. 10, 2015, at home in Yuma, Arizona.

Per his request, his body was cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Condolences may be sent to Lois J. Harger, 1108 W. Broadway, Eagle Grove, Iowa 50533.

Harold Wayne Harger, son of Herman and Ada Lorraine (Houghton) Harger, was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Somerset.

Harold spent his early childhood in Murray. In 1952, the family moved to Truro. He graduated from Truro High School in 1954.

On March 13, 1980, Harold married Lois Jean (Ballou) McDermott in Osceola. They spent all their married life together RVing and spending winters in Florida and Arizona.

Harold worked for Bill Greene Service Station, was service manager for Friedmans and Metro Ford in Des Moines. In 1978, he opened Harold’s Country Service near Osceola. In 1987, they moved to Eagle Grove. There he work for Westwood Ford in Fort Dodge, Christensen Motors in Eagle Grove and Gookin RV Center in Story City. He retired in 2000.

Harold was a member of Lions Club in Truro and United Church of Christ.

Harold is survived by his wife Lois; son Merlin Lynn (Teresa) Harger; granddaughters, Danielle and Tomi; several great-grandchildren; two nieces; five nephews; sister-in-law Eleanor Jane Walberg and very special friends, Dale and Lori Helgevold, Damon, Lee Ann and Landi, and Merlyn (Bud) and Cindy Reed Jones, Justin and Gavin.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; bothers, Don R. Harger, Herman Eugene (Butch) Harger, sister-in-law Shirley (Tonya) Harger; bother-in-law Melvin Walberg and one nephew.
