Des Moines Christian 3, Interstate 35 1

URBANDALE – The Roadrunners lost to Des Moines Christian Monday night, falling 3-1.

Three in the bottom of the sixth put DMC in the lead late enough for Insterstate 35 to not have anything working in time.

Mason Cassady went five innings on the hill, striking out four and walking one. He allowed one earned run of the three he allowed in total.

Caleb Hobart went 1-for-2, doubling and scoring the lone run for the Roadrunners. He was driven in by Connor Yawn.

Van Meter 12, Interstate 35 2

TRURO – Van Meter cruised to a win over I-35 Friday night, winning 12-2 in five innings.

Joey Bregar had a two-hit day for the Roadrunners, scoring once. Allen Dalton, Colter Beck and Yawn each had hits also.

On the mound, Kale Day struck out two and walked four across four innings of work.

Madrid 8, Interstate 35 7

Madrid 3, Interstate 35 1

TRURO – I-35 dropped two to Madrid Thursday, falling 8-7 and 3-1.

Connor Yawn struck out seven Madrid batters in the 3-1 loss to the Tigers. He allowed zero earned runs and four hits, but was handed the losing decision.

Jake Sheeder went 1-2 with a run scored, a stolen base and a walk in game one.

In game two, the Roadrunner pitchers of Mick Von Feldt and Sheeder combined for 10 strikeouts, but were unable to hold back the Madrid bats as the Tigers knocked nine hits off them.

A six-run seventh inning was the decider as Madrid came back from down 7-2 to take the lead in the final inning.

Christian Roquet went 2-4 with two runs, two doubles and two RBIs in the game two loss.

Central Decatur 20, Murray 5 (4)

LEON – It was all Central Decaur Monday night as CD cruised over Murray, winning 20-5.

The Cardinals put nine runs up on the board in the third inning and six more in the fourth to break a 5-5 game, putting the Cardinals well ahead of the Mustangs.

Haden Leymaster, Michel Evertsenm Matthew Boote and Tyke Hullinger each had two hits for the Cardinals in the win. Hullinger and Boothe scored three times each while Evertsen and Leymaster combined for six RBIs.

Dakota Davis went 1-2 at the plate, tripling and driving in four RBIs.

Jimmy Graham had a 1-2 day, scoring twice and doubling for the Mustangs. Reece Held hit a three-run homer, ending his day 1-2.

Southwest Valley 7, Central Decatur 3

LEON – The Cardinals fell to Southwest Valley Firday night by a 7-3 final.

A six-run first inning for Southwest Valley set the tone for the Timberwolves the rest of the way as the Cardinals were unable to chip away enough to break even.

Errors got the best of the Cardinals as Devin Adams allowed seven runs with only one being earned. He struck out two over 6 2/3 innings of work for the losing decision.

Leymaster, TJ Fallis and Tate Hill each had two hits. Leymaster and Dakota Davis scored once.

Martensdale-St. Marys 11, Central Decatur 1

LEON – Martensdale-St. Marys beat Central Decatur Thursday, winning over the Cardinals 11-1.

The Cardinals trailed 5-0 through the first two innings of play before they were able to put a run on the board in the third.

The Cardinals’ Dakota Davis struck out four across 4 1/3 innings of work for the losing decision.

Evertsen, Davis and Fallis each had a hit in the loss. Leymaster stole three bases.

Des Moines Christian 17, Central Decatur 7

LEON – It was a run filled day in Leon as the Cardinals and the Lions bombined for 24 runs in seven innings of play Wednesday.

Des Moines Christian had more firepower than CD though, topping the Cardinals 17-7.

An eight-run top of the third for DMC extended a one-run lead to nine for the Lions. From there, the Cardinals fought against the run-rule as Des Moines Christian threatened to end the game before regulation over the next four innings.

The Cardinals had a three-hit day from Evertsen. He also scored and doubled twice in the loss.

Tommy Herring and Devin Adams scored twice also.
