The Nancy McKay Harsh Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is again sponsoring the annual DAR American History essay contest.
This year's topic for grades fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth is "Forgotten Patriots Who Supported the American Struggle for Independence."
Describe a particular person or group and how they supported the cause for American independence. Explain why it is especially important to honor the unsung heroes and often forgotten patriots. Focus on the often unrecognized people and groups, such as African Americans, American Indians, French, Spanish, Germans or others who provided military, patriotic and public service in support of the American Revolution.
