Dispels rumor of King’s Canyon Fine Arts closing

To the Citizens of Clarke County:

I am writing to dispel the rumor that King’s Canyon Fine Arts is closing.

We have come a long way in little over a year’s time, and plan on being here for many years to come.  The gallery continues to gain momentum, putting us at a grand total of 41 participating South Central Iowa artists.

King’s Canyon features the work of two stained glass artists, three wood workers, one wood carver, three jewelers, five ceramic artists, five photographers, 10 painters, one gourd artist, four textile artists, one furniture restorer, one author, two musicians and three mixed media artists.

Twenty eight of these artists are from Clarke County alone.

If you haven’t been by the shop, it would be great to meet you. Come and check out the talents of your friends and neighbors. We are located on the north side of the Osceola square and are open Tuesday through Thursday  11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

King’s Canyon Fine Arts also continues to provide the community with affordable art classes and supplies.  For more information about the gallery, artist biographies, and art classes, see us on the web at kingscanyonart.com or find the gallery listed on osceoladowntown.com.

Thank you to everyone that has made our first year a success.  We truly appreciate all of the support we have received from the community and are glad to say that our doors remain wide open for business.

Clarke County Landfill Commission voted to proceed with a transfer station to replace the landfill after it reaches capacity, but Osceola City Council hasn't given its support for the idea. What do you think is the best option for the city of Osceola?
A transfer station would be most convenient, even if it comes at slightly higher costs than direct hauling and keeps the city in the 28E agreement.
If direct hauling to Madison County Landfill or Metro Waste Authority is the cheapest option, it's the best choice despite some inconvenience to those who currently drop off waste at Clarke County Landfill.
Although it could be the most expensive option, Clarke County should build another landfill.
I don't care what the city decides.
