ACCIDENTS

Lyndsey Werner, Osceola,  was cited for failure to yield Nov 11 after attemtping to turn north on Warren Ave. from Hwy. 34. According to an accident report, the view of oncoming traffic was blocked by  a semi in the turning lane.

Police are searching for a green Pontiac which allegedly hit a parked car in Wal-Mart parking lot on Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. According to a report, a witness saw the Pontiac hit the vehicle as it was pulling out of an adjoining parking space. Damage to the psrked vehicle is estimed at $500.

On Nov. 13, Staci Newton, Derby, Iowa,  backed out of a parking spot by Fareway and backed into Osceola resident Joyce Garrett's vechicle. Newton waited at the scene until Garrett arrived. Damage to Garrett's car was estimated at $800.

Sarah Lippold, Osceola, was backing out from Logan Ave. onto Hwy. 69 when driver Phillip Blunt, Murray, hit her vehicle on Nov 13. Lippold was cited for failure to yield.

INCIDENT

Eight vehicles' tires were slashed Nov. 14 in an alley behind Flowers and More.

ARRESTS
Steven Robinson, Osceola, was charged with OWI on Nov. 9.

Marcus Collins, Osceola, was charged with OWI, open container, and speeding on Nov. 10.

Daniel Rater, Osceola, was charged with interference and arrested on a warrant on Nov. 10.

Brandon Garner, Osceola, was transported to Clarke County Jail for a warrant on Nov. 10.

Karen Huston, New Virginia, was charged with 5th degree theft on Nov. 13.

Reader poll

Clarke County Landfill Commission voted to proceed with a transfer station to replace the landfill after it reaches capacity, but Osceola City Council hasn't given its support for the idea. What do you think is the best option for the city of Osceola?
A transfer station would be most convenient, even if it comes at slightly higher costs than direct hauling and keeps the city in the 28E agreement.
If direct hauling to Madison County Landfill or Metro Waste Authority is the cheapest option, it's the best choice despite some inconvenience to those who currently drop off waste at Clarke County Landfill.
Although it could be the most expensive option, Clarke County should build another landfill.
I don't care what the city decides.
