Mr. & Mrs. Dean Parker and grandchildren, Nicholas & Lauren Hagan, attended the annual fall cookout at their daughter/Aunt, Christy, and her husband, Mark’s, house in Indianola.  Potato, Asparagus & chili soup was served along with hotdogs. Other guests brought food to go along with the soup. It was a cool night but the fire that Mark built felt really warm. One guest brought a different dish and it was dates covered with bacon. It was very delicious and a very unusual combination. Also attending were Allan & Jane Brommel from Norwalk, Russ & Stacie Watrous & Taylor of Des Moines, George & Charlene Sankey, Randy & Beth Zimmerman all from Indianola, Diann Cooper of West Des Moines, Cindy Johnston, Clara & Curtis from Indianola and a couple of people who Mark works with at EDS but didn’t catch their names.

Julie (Patton) Morris and Mary Lou Parker visited with Fran Hoffman at West Bridge in Winterset last Monday. Fran is recovering from a case of meningitis. We took a picture of some of the fire & rescue members with us for her and she did recognize them and say their names so she is slowly improving. She looked good. Please remember Fran and her family in prayer. This has been a really rough time for them.

The landfill commission passed a motion to move forward with a transfer station for the county. What do you think about this decision?
The county needs the transfer station as soon as possible.
A transfer station isn't the answer, because it will be too expensive.
The commission should wait until after their arbitration with the city of Osceola to move forward with any decisions.
