LeRoy Alumni and Friends banquet
The LeRoy Alumni and Friends banquet was held June 6 at the Humeston Community Center. The center doors were open at 4 p.m. for signing in, visiting and looking over memorabilia and letters from those who could not attend.
Honored classes were: 1939 - no one attended. 1949 - Donald James, Tabor; Donna McDaniel, Leon; Mary Lou Acheson, Allerton; and Herman Danner, Woodburn. 1959 - Judy Brown, Springfield, Mo.; Steve Kyner, Humeston; and Marvin Ellis, Weldon.
Other classes represented were: 1933 - Dorothy Thompson, Centerville. 1936 - Thomas Brown, Fairfield. 1944 - Carl Anderson, Marion. 1946 - Harley Sponsler, Humeston and Barbara Audlehelm, Weldon. 1948 - Edna Dunbar, Osceola and Jo Ann Sullivan, Weldon. 1950 - Helen Ruth Boggs, Weldon and Eulah Wineland, Humeston. 1951 - Rheta Sponsler, Humeston and Bill Sponsler, Whittier, Calif. 1952 - Donna Sponsler, Whittier, Calfi. 1953 - Beverly Jackson and Portia Thompson Halferty, Altoona. 1954 - Bob and Nancy Moore, Garden Grove. 1955 - Dorothy Exley, Chariton and Emett Joy, Humeston. 1956 - Paul Hayward, Indianola and Charles Hitt, Humeston. 1957 - Ted Thompson, Kansas and Ada Hitt, Humeston. 1958 - Shirley Jamison, Weldon; Mary Coffey, Weldon; Erma and Larry Fight, Davenport; Ruby Chumbley, Weldon; Rilma Muller, Osceola; and Jake Coffey, Weldon.
Those who attended but did not graduate at LeRoy were Charm Braizie, Osceola; Annie Shanks, Chariton; Norma Goben, Indianola; Donna James, Tabor; Charla Joy, Humeston; Phyllis Pollock, Allerton; and Betty L. Smith, Lamoni.

Deaths were Roberta Saffell Richman, Darrell Saffell and Jim Hitt.
The Raymond Storm family was given a framed certificate for serving the great meals for the LeRoy Association for 35 years. This was their last year to do this.
Dorothy Worden Thompson was given recognition as 2009 was her 76th year of coming to the banquet.
Decoration committee for 2009 was Erma and Larry Fight, Mary Kay and Jake Coffey, Rilma Muller, Ruby Carpenter and Shirley Jamison. Beverly Jackson was secretary.
It was decided to meet again with classes 1956 and 1957 as committee and Beverly Jackson again serving as secretary.
