Congratulation to Ivyl and Kathy Ransom on the marriage of their youngest son, Ryan. Ryan Ransom and Jen Hoskins were married in St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Des Moines on Saturday, June 14. Ryan and his bride will make their home in Ames until she finishes college.
The men and women of Calvary Baptist Church of St. Charles are now in the moving business. Just kidding. A member of the Church that had been living in Truro got moved to St. Charles by members of the Church. Their new home wasn’t quite ready so all their belongings went into the garage of another family of the Church who lives in St. Charles and they lived with them for two weeks until their new residence was ready to be moved in. Their furniture and belongings are now being moved again but now to their new place. I believe everyone was thankful that the second round of rain held off until they got everything moved.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Dorothy Black who passed away on June 5. Mrs. Black was cremated and no service is planned at this time. Burial will be in Sulfur Cemetery in Camelberg, Ky. at a later date.
Word was received that Mrs. Teresa (Kinney) Fraker daughter of Mr. Jack Kinney and the late Carol Kinney, has accepted a new position effective June 14, as Interim Director Outpatient Services at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.
If you remember Teresa, you’ll remember that she is a warm, friendly and highly caring person. Becoming a nurse was a benefit to not only the patients she has cared for but to the nursing profession.
Teresa received her diploma in nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1989, her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa in 2001, and her Master of Science Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of St. Francis in 2006.

Sympathy is extended to Brandi Ransom and Shawn Abraham and their families in the recent unexpected death of their mother, Stephanie Abraham, on June 7, at Clarke County Hospital. Funeral services were held at Kale’s Funeral Home in Osceola on June 11th. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.
Esther Neidt, former resident of Truro, who is currently residing with her daughters in Omaha, will celebrate her 90th birthday on June 29. Esther’s family would like to have a card shower in her honor. If you would like to send a card or letter to Esther, she would love to hear from you. You may send it to either daughter’s address: 1640 South 97th, Omaha, NE 68124 or 2548 Avenue F, Council Bluffs, IA 51501-2252.
For several years Esther Neidt wrote the Truro News Items and you would always see her at the Methodist Church in Truro cleaning or some other project that needed to be done. The town of Truro has missed seeing her for a long time. She had a beautiful flower garden that she kept up at her mom’s, Daisy Barnes, house for several years. Happy birthday Esther from all your friends in Truro.

Justin Pontier, who is the son of Jeff & Renee (Martin) Pontier, has an acting part in the world premier play of only one time of the “Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid” which is now playing at the Des Moines Playhouse from June 12-28. Justin will be on main stage having a character part and a part with a group. The author of the book with the same title, Bill Bryson, tells the story of what it was like for him growing up in Des Moines in the 50’s and 60’s. This is quite an accomplishment for Justin who is 15, to be able to have a part in this play as he is very interested in acting and has been for quite a while according to his mother. Justin is the grandson of Herschel and Donna (Brant) Martin of Truro. Congratulations to Justin and break a leg!!
