Indians take fifth in SCC Golf Meet

The Clarke boys’ golf team played host to the South Central Conference Meet Monday in Osceola and came away with a fifth-place finish.


The Indians finished the day with a 367, just 11 strokes out of third. Centerville edged Albia for the league crown, 316-318. Chariton was a distant third with a 356, followed by Davis County (361), the Indians (367) and Eddyville-Blakesburg (394).


Walker Adams had the best day for the Indians, with an 18-hole score of 80. Adam Patrick carded a 95, while Nick Bierbrodt and Clinton Casterline each added 96s. Trevor Pitts finished the day with a 106 and Tyler LaFollette had a 114.


Brendyn Hawkins of Centerville cruised to the SCC medalist honors with a 71. Austin Huebner of Centerville was medalist runner-up with a 77.


The girls’ squad traveled to Albia Tuesday for the SCC Meet. Results from that will be in next week’s paper.


The boys’ squad played in the Chariton Charger Invitational on Saturday and finished last in the eight-team field with a 393. Albia edged Pella for the title, 321-326.


Leading the Indians was Adams with an 85. Bierbrodt and Patrick each carded 100 and Casterline had a 108.
