SWCD awards scholarships

Two outstanding area students, Ethan Abbott and Hanna Jones, will both receive a $250 scholarship through the Clarke County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) scholarship program.

Ethan, the son of Mike and Linda Abbott, is a senior at Clarke Community School and lives in Osceola. After graduation, Ethan will attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. He plans to pursue a degree in Ag Business & Marketing.

Hanna, the daughter of Mitch and Terri Jones, is a senior at Murray High School and lives in Grand River. Hanna is also attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. She will pursue a degree in Agronomy and Animal Science.

The Clarke County SWCD scholarship was presented to high school seniors in the Clarke County school district. The SWCD scholarship can be used for the first year of education, on the college level, while pursuing programs of study in any field of agriculture or natural resources.  The basis of the award was on leadership (leadership includes service, character, and self-motivation) and scholastic achievement.
