Carroll Gene Fry

Carroll Gene Fry, son of Charley Francis Fry and Julia Elizabeth Spencer Fry was born March 28, 1925 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life and went to be with his Lord Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 94 years of age.

Gene grew up in the Van Wert area. He was united in marriage to Wilma Louise Horton on November 12, 1947 at the Osceola First Christian Church in Osceola, Iowa and they lived in Osceola where they were blessed with two children. Gene was a business owner, he began working for McPherson Appliance in 1946 and purchased the business in 1959. He owned Gene’s Skelgas and later Gene & Nelson’s Appliance. He retired in 2009.

Gene enjoyed fixing and repairing things. He enjoyed drawing and writing in his retirement. Gene was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Osceola, serving over 30 years as the church treasurer and he kept the heating system in good working order.

Those relatives who preceded Carroll in death were his wife, Wilma Louise Fry, and parents, Charley and Julia Fry.

Gene leaves to cherish his memory; son, Nelson Lee (Sharon) Fry of Osceola, IA; daughter, Jane Elizabeth (Daniel) McGhee of Norwalk, IA; grandchildren, Nelson Joel (Heather) Fry of Osceola, IA, Kenneth Gene (Kelly) Fry of Osceola, IA, Trisha Loree Fry of Virginia, Eric Robert Hochstein of Clear Lake, IA, Laura Beth (Evan) Anderson of Mason City, IA, Becky Renee (Josh) Heagel of Kensett, IA, and Brandi Jean (Jeremiah) Moore of Medford, OR; step grandchildren, Crystal (Nick) Gurwell of Norwalk, IA, Adam (Jean) McGhee of Broken Arrow, OK, Angela (Zack) Saari of Des Moines, IA, and Ashley McGhee of Richland, MO; 30 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Monday November 25, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Al Adams officiating.

Family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, November 25, 2019 prior to services at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery
