Class A all-district 8 team announced

Central Decatur had several players make the Class A all-district 8 team last week, with Cole Pedersen receiving honors as District MVP

The Iowa State football commit passed for 850 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. When opting to run or getting the hand off, he was a force with 8.6 yards per carry.

He rushed for 1,268 yards, scoring 16 times. His rushing and scoring total was second only to Chase Keifer of Wayne (1,799 yards and 21 scores), who was selected as offensive MVP.

On defense, Pedersen had 43 stops with two tackles for a loss. He had one sack and one fumble recovery.

Joining Pedersen on the all-district list is Hayden Leymaster. Leymaster’s 630 yards on 49 catches with nine scores earned him the nod at the wide receiver position.

Tate Hill and Colton Barnes were also selected to the offensive all-district team, getting selected as offensive linemen.

The O-linemen helped CD total 3,172 yards of offense. The Cardinals scored 39 times on offense, averaging 5.9 yards per play.

On the defensive side of the all-district team, Dakota Reed and Tegan Carson were selected as defensive linemen.

The Cardinal defense had 456 stops, 52 coming for a loss, with 17 sacks.

Reed had 39 1/2 tackles with six for a loss. He had four sacks. Carson had 32 1/2 tackles with eight coming for a loss.

Matthew Boothe and Michel Evertsen were selected as defensive backs for the all-district team.

Booth picked off five passes with 83 interception return yards. Evertsen picked off one pass, a 20-yard return for a score. In total, CD had 13 interceptions.

Selected as defensive utility was Devin Adams. Adams picked off one pass, had 39 1/2 tackles and one sack.

Receiving honorable mention was TJ Fallis, Kolby Hewlett and Brogan Bundt (all defensive).

CD finished the season 5-5, qualifying for the playoffs as district champions. The Cards were bounced in the opening round of the Class A playoffs by North Tama 16-6 Nov. 1.
