Area volleyball roundup: I-35 and Central Decatur kick off the season

TRURO – Interstate 35 fell to Panorama last Tuesday, falling 3-1.

The Roadrunners picked up a second set win 25-20 before narrowly dropping the third and fourth sets by three and four points, respectively.

Ainsley Maske and Reanna Hubbard had a team high seven kills. Calli Garner posed 16 digs for the team lead.

Jaylen Bush had 18 assists and five digs with Summer Pasutti posting the high in digs with 10.

Ogden 3, I-35 2

OGDEN – I-35 fell to Ogden Thursday night, dropping 3-2 sets for the Roadrunners second straight loss.

Maske had a team leading eight kills on 23 attack attempts. Bush posted the team lead in assists for the second straight game with 16.

Hubbard and Maddie Williamson had solo blocks and assisted blocks. Paige Palmer had a season high nine digs.

CD 2, Chariton 0

Wayne 3, CD1

CHARITON – The Central Decatur Cardinals split a triangular last Tuesday, winning 2-0 over Chariton and losing to Wayne 3-1

The Cardinals won 25-19 and 25-21 in its only win of the day with Alaina Applegate posting a team high six kills on 13 attempts in the win. Shira Alley and Carlee Hamilton both had three digs.

Maizee Lindsey posted five assists and Applegate had the lone solo block.

Applegate had 11 kills in the four set loss to Wayne. She also had three blocks to better both totals from the previous match.

Lindsey had 14 assists, the team high, and Carlee Hamilton had 12 digs.

Alley had for kills, seven digs and 20 out of 23 successful serves – acing four of them.

Bedford 2, CD 1

Mount Ayr 2, CD 1

BEDFORD – The Cardinals dropped consecutive matches, losing 2-1 to both Bedford and Mount Ayr.

The Cardinals’ Applegate had a team leading six kills against Bedford and only one against Mount Ayr. Shira and Addiston Graham had four and three kills, respectively, against Bedford.

Lyndsey Dale had five digs against Bedford and Mount Ayr.

The back-to-back match losses make it three straight for CD, as it heads home Tuesday for its home opener.
