First National Bank supports Osceola community

First National Bank of Osceola and Murray are excited to participate in their first year of the United Way campaign. United Way partners with South Central Iowa Community Action Program (SCICAP) to support local families in need. SCICAP supports a variety of programs that assist families with food, housing, money management, education and employment for people who live in Osceola, Murray and the surrounding areas.

Employees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of FUNdraising events throughout the week of August 5 – 9, with all proceeds going to benefit SCICAP. Events include a bake sale, jeans day, bingo, balloon pop, silent auction and more.

Last year, First National Bank donated over $48,000 to the United Way with 99.2 percent of employee participation, either through a monetary donation or participation in one or more of the events.

First National Bank has been a proud supporter of United Way for over two decades and is eager to make a positive impact on the Osceola and Murray communities.

SCICAP was founded in July 1965 by Clyde L. Taff. “In collaboration with community partners, the mission of South Central Iowa Community Action Program is to provide advocacy and services for persons striving for economic security while preserving their dignity and bring about change for the benefit of the people we serve and the community at large.” The agency serves Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Monroe and Wayne counties in rural southern Iowa. Under the direction of Brenda Fry, Executive Director, the trained staff works with families to help them overcome everyday problems so that they may achieve self-sufficiency.
