School board talks community communication, new construction

Communication and the school construction were two big topics at Monday’s school board meeting.

Begining July 2 Seid and the Concerned Clarke Parents will have monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. Lindsey Redman and MacKenzie O’Hair are the main two CCP members that will work with Seid facilitating the meetings.

These Tuesday Talks will be at the elementary while construction is going on at the high school and middle school but will eventually be moved back to the high school.

The CCP will have an agenda and they will go through their agenda with Seid. At times certain school staff members will be invited to attend depending on what the agenda items are.

“I feel really good about the communication and the opportunity that this will provide as we move forward with the school year,” said Seid.

Another opportunity for community members to speak with Seid about concerns, ideas or questions will be during the Clarke Schools Community Network held at 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month starting in September at the District Office.

“This will just be an open door if people want to come in and have some conversation or share some ideas,” said Seid.

The schools construction has begun with the road around the high school and middle school. The new project manager, Randy Sharp spoke to the board Monday night. He is pleased with the progress being made with the road construction and the bus barn construction.

The bus barn has all the trusses set up and the roofing will begin later this week. All the concrete is done at the barn and they will be setting the fence up. They will be locating pipes along the new road and continue to tear up the south side of the road around the school building. Sharp is confident that the weather will be good in the coming months and the road will be done before school starts.

They are waiting for a few more bids to come in then Sharp will be giving the board a more strict budget and schedule.
