Four Clarke boys earn all-SCC honors

Four Clarke Indian boys basketball players were selected as part of the South Central Conference all-conference teams Feb. 27.

Lenny Peavy led the Clarke honorees by being selected to the first-team all-conference team.

Peavy finished fourth in the conference in points per game, averaging 19.3 points per contest.

The outgoing senior shot 40.5 percent from the floor, 30 percent from deep and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe.

As a guard, Peavy also was second on the Indians in both assists and steals with 62 and 40, respectively.

He also finished the year with 66 rebounds and a block.

Honorable mentions

The Indians landed three players on the honorable mention all-conference list.

Senior Conner Deutsch, junior Sam Cooley and sophomore Dalton Stubbe all were awarded for their efforts this season.

Deutsch led Clarke in assists with 69, the seventh most of any player in the SCC. Deutsch also averaged nine points per game in his final season after coming off an injury that cut short his junior campaign.

As an outgoing senior Deutsch also led Clarke in steals with 44.

Cooley will go down as the team’s leading rebounder with 138 boards as part of his honorable mention year.

The junior averaged 8.5 points per game to go along with 20 steals, 15 assists and seven blocks.

For Stubbe, he shot 41.6 percent from the floor while averaging 6.7 points per contest.

Stubbe ended his sophomore season second on the team in rebounds with 77 to go with 21 assists, 20 steals and seven blocks.
