Piano recital, contest results

The students of Rachel McCoy performed in recital at LifePoint Assembly of God on Jan. 27. First time performers were Sierra Flowers, Aryanna and Ahnyka Hewlett, Parker Truitt and Ricardo Zaragoza.

On Feb. 2, four students participated in the Iowa Music Teachers Association district auditions at Graceland University in Lamoni. All students had to take a theory and ear training test and perform three contrasting pieces from memory.

Competing in Level A (ages 5-9) was Macayla Hicks. Justin Hollinger and Moyra Hicks competed in Level B (ages 10-11) and Teryn Shields competed in Level C (ages 12-13). All students performed well and received I-ratings. Moyra and Teryn also made the theory honor roll by scoring a 90 percent or higher on the 50-question theory test.
