Boys area roundup: Clarke best CD; Murray secures two wins

Winterset 75, Clarke 30

WINTERSET – Only five players for the Indians got on the scoreboard in a 75-30 loss to Winterset Saturday.

Emanuel Mosley scored a team-high eight points for the Indians.

Clarke 76, Central Decatur 60

The Indians picked up a 16-point victory Monday over Central Decatur as Lenny Peavy scored 23 points while hitting eight free throws.

Dalton Stubbe added 17 points for the Indians while Mosley scored 14.

For the Cardinals, Cole Pedersen posted 21 points in the loss while Cauy Spidle added 13.

Michel Evertsen had 10 points and five assists while Cash Tharp also scored 10 points.

Martensdale-St. Marys 69, Central Decatur 44

MARTENSDALE – Pedersen had another big night for Central Decatur, but the Cardinals struggled with Pride of Iowa foe Martensdale-St. Marys Friday.

Evertsen added 12 points, four rebounds and a steal in the losing effort.

Murray 84, Moulton-Udell 44

MOULTON – Reece Held posted a monstrous double double in Murray’s 84-44 thumping of Moulton-Udell Friday.

Held completed the contest with 27 points, 10 assists, five steals and four rebounds.

Devin Slaughter added 18 points for the Mustangs while Jace Rodecker posted nine.

“We again came out sluggish on defense for the second game in a row, but after half we put it together and played with great intensity,” said Murray head coach Darin Wookey.

Murray 63, Diagonal 40

MURRAY – Four Mustangs finished in double digits Monday as Murray skated past Bluegrass Conference opponent Diagonal, 63-40.

Held and Slaughter posted 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Jeran Cosner added 13 points and Rodecker scored 12.

A 25-19 game at the break in favor of the Mustangs quickly swung into Murray’s full control as it outscored Diagonal 38-21 in the second half.

“We got off to a terrible start again tonight, but ended the half on a run and carried it into the second half,” said Wookey.

Panorama 70, Interstate 35 51

TRURO – Richie Griglione went 10 of 17 from the floor, scoring 25 points, but the Roadrunners fell to Panorama Friday 70-51.

Alex McCuddin stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal.

Andrew Goering added nine points and six rebounds in the loss.

Mount Ayr 48, Interstate 35 39

TRURO – Griglione was the lone Roadrunner in double digits with 14 points as I-35 fell to Mount Ayr Monday 48-39.

Carter Bussanmas added seven points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Roadrunners in the defeat.

The Roadrunners led 11-9 after the first quarter, but Mount Ayr chipped away at the lead and slowly extended it in its favor before the final whistle.
