FFA members recognized with their Greenhand and Chapter Degrees

On Tuesday Dec. 18, 2018, the Osceola Big Chief FFA Chapter had their chili supper/ awards ceremony. Officers started the meeting by performing official FFA Opening Ceremonies.The Greenhand Degree Awards Ceremony recognized new students who have memorized The FFA Creed and have in order a plan of action for their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). This honor was granted to one of the largest groups that Mrs. Boyd has ever had in her years of teaching. The Greenhand Degree was bestowed upon nineteen young men and women who put forth hard work and dedication to meet the requirements for this degree.  Greenhand members were as follows: Michael Galvez, Alivia Bakley, Ryleigh Luce, Jessinda Davenport, Hannah Winiewski, Jackson Hoag, Shayla Hembry, Clayton Allen, Konrad Boyer, Kacey Boyer, Sophia Hicks, Kelli McAfee, Cole Pontier, Ely Crawford, Osten Blevins, Madi Sandel, Jairus Davis, Tyler Binning and Breanna Selsor.

After the Greenhand Ceremony, student who met the requirements for the Chapter Degree were recognized. To meet the requirements for this degree students must have at least worked 45 hours outside the classroom or invested $150 in a project. Members advancing in their degrees were Hunter Garrett, Carter McCann, Dean Spalding, Chandler Lane, Nicole Barnard, Adam Barnard and Allyson Abbas. Once the award ceremonies were done everyone enjoyed some chili and delicious cinnamon rolls. Members worked together to add a little fun to the evening by competing in a chili cook-off. The money collected from the chili cook off voting was donated to our local school food pantry.
