Clarke Archery continues strong at Chariton Shootout Jan. 5

CHARITON —The Clarke Archery team, comprised of elementary, middle and high school archers, showed continued growth at the Chariton Shootout on Saturday, Jan. 5.

High school students Jairus Davis, ranked 19th out of 55 in the High School boys division, and Tyler Binning, ranking 26th,  led the Clarke High School team with Davis scoring 264 and Binning shooting 10-tens, or bullseyes.

Riley Elsbury, ranked 13th of 66 in the Middle School girls division, topped the middle school students with a score of 254 while Tyler Davenport scored the most tens at seven.

Elementary student Remington Binning, ranked eighth of 29 in the elementary boys division, took top marks among the six Clarke elementary competitors with a score of 237 and four tens, followed by Danika Smith (eighth of 30)  and Casey Wade (10th of 29) each shooting three tens.

Clarke Archery competes as part of the National Archery in the School Program (NASP) which encourages high academic achievement through learning self-discipline, focus and patience. For more information about the program, visit https://www.naspschools.org/.

Clarke Archery’s next competition takes place Jan. 12th at the North Mahaska Archery Tournament in New Sharon.
