Wynette VanDyke


Lillian Wynette VanDyke, 89, of Osceola died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with Bob Kent officiating. Visitation with family present was from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.  

Lillian Wynette VanDyke, daughter of David Jones and Lillian Eliza (Houck) Jones, was born in Van Wert. Wynette received her education in Van Wert, graduating from Van Wert High School.

In 1946, she married William Russell Lewis, and one son, David was born. They later divorced.

On Sept. 4, 1949, Wynette married Glen Otis VanDyke in Osceola, and two children, Norma and Ronald were born. Wynette and Glen operated VanDyke Recreation Center in Osceola for many years. She also operated D&W Trash and Treasures, an antique shop in her home. Most recently, Wynette had worked as a casino cashier for Lakeside Casino and Resort in Osceola.  

Wynette is survived by her sons, David Lewis of Davenport and Ronald Glenn VanDyke of Aurora, Colorado; daughter Norma Jean Bailey of Sisters, Oregon; grandchildren, David James (Erin) VanDyke of San Diego, California, Thomas Harrison (Amy) VanDyke of North Liberty, Richard Ryan (Nancy) VanDyke of Osceola, Brian Douglas Bailey of Sisters, Oregon, and Alecia Brook Bailey of Bend, Oregon; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Jones of Overland Park, Kansas, Winona Crawford of Indianola, Willene (Lawrie) Arthur of Parkville, Missouri, and Wilda Kay (Bob) Kent of Lawrence, Kansas; brother Wendell (Charlotte) Jones of Van Wert; brother-in-law, Raymond Edwin (Carmalita) VanDyke of Osceola; sister-in-law Viola Jones of Van Wert; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Wynette was preceded in death by her parents, David and Lillian Jones; husband Glen; brothers, Warren Jones, Walter Jones and Worth Jones; sister-in-law Helen Mae Camden; brother-in-law John Crawford and nephews, Wendell Jones Jr. and Richard Jones.
