Tootsie Roll Drive donation

Knights of Columbus local Council 8702 donated $1,000 to Mosaic and $700 to Special Olympics, both local organizations in the Clarke county area.

The CPID (Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities) also known as “The Tootsie Roll Drive” was held in September by the Knights of Columbus and collected more than $1,700 in donations from residents in the surrounding area.

The donation dollars going to Mosaic will help persons, clients of Mosaic living in the Clarke county area, with special needs or special equipment that may help them live independently. Donations are also used to help out with rent, special events, field trips, and to go to summer camp.

According to Michael Peterson, the donation dollars to the Special Olympics will help support six contestants from Clarke County to compete in the Special Olympics Winter games held in Dubuque this January. This will also help contestants this January in Basketball Skills games.

The folks from the South Central Mosaic Organization, Clarke County Special Olympics, and The Knights of Columbus from St. Bernard’s Parish would like to thank the community for their generous donations and for supporting both organizations.
