Stephen Leroy Squier, 71, of Osceola died Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at his home in Osceola.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with Larry Squier and the Rev. Chuck DeVos officiating. Visitation with family present was from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment followed in Maple Hill Cemetery. Stephen Leroy Squier, son of George Squier and Ruby Leona (Bishop) Squier, was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Osceola. Steve was a lifetime resident of Osceola, graduating from Clarke Community High School with the class of 1965. He went on to attend AIB, followed by serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Steve worked many years for the Osceola Water Department, and retired as the superintendent in 2009.
Steve was a volunteer with EveryStep Hospice, formerly HCI Hospice Care Services and helped honor veterans through the hospice veteran’s pinning program. Steve also volunteered with the Hiz Kidz program and the reading program with the kids at the elementary school.
Steve is survived by his sister Karen Benson of Osceola; nieces, Michelle Snell of Des Moines, Melissa (John) Snell-Gunter of Osceola, Nancy Thomas of Creston and Beth (Wade) Hartman of Creston; many great-nieces and great-nephews; companion dog Jemma; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Squier; brother Norman (Marie) Squier and brother-in-law Brad Benson.
