William “Bill” Bryan Oehlert, 93, of Osceola died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Mike Albert officiating. Visitation with family present was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to services. Interment followed in Maple Hill Cemetery. William Bryan Oehlert, son of Herschel Oehlert and Emily (Baldwin) Oehlert, was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Osceola. Bill grew up in Woodburn and graduated from Woodburn High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On April 15, 1950, he married Mabel Darline McLaughlin at her parents’ home in Leslie. He farmed for many years, while working at several jobs including John Deere, where he retired in 1987.
Bill was a member of Herndon Oehlert American Legion Post No. 157 of Woodburn, AmVets, Shriners, Masons and Woodburn Methodist Church. Bill was active in his communities in Woodburn and Osceola, serving on Clarke County Hospital Board, SCICAP Board and Clarke County Board of Supervisors.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Margie, Emily, Elizabeth (Charlie) and E’Lynne (Lonnie); sons, Martin (Becky) and William (Terri); daughter-in-law Mary; twin brother Bob (Jean), eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 31 step-great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Mabel; son Brian; brothers, Allen and J.D.; parents and son-in-law Mike.
