Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 2:55 a.m. Sept. 4 at Pilot Truck Stop.

According to an Osceola Police report, Atabek Kadyron, 28, of Illinois, driving a 2014 Volvo semi was attemping to back into a parking spot south of a legally parked 2012 Freightliner semi when his trailer collided with the driver’s side of the 2012 Freightliner.

Estimated damage was $1,500 to the 2012 Freightliner semi.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:51 a.m. Sept. 4 at Daisy Lane.

According to an Osceola Police report, Jorge Zulueeta Acosta, 58, of Osceola, driving a 2019 Mazda, was falling asleep as he went to make a left turn into his driveway but missed the driveway and drove into the grass, running over an Alliant Energy electrial box and coming to rest on the sidewalk 30 yards from the electrical box.

Estimated damage was $3,000 to the Alliant Energy electrical box and $1,000 to Acosta’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 4:25 p.m. Sept. 4 on Highway 34.

According to an Osceola Police report, Samantha Lynne Philips, 22, of Osceola, driving a 2013 KIA eastbound on Highway 34 slammed on her brakes when she thought a vehicle was going to pull onto the highway from the Interstate 35 exit ramp and was rear ended by Angela Sue Wittenauer, 36, of Osceola, driving a 1999 Buick, who was following Phillips and didn’t have time to stop without avoiding a collision.

Estimated damage was $5,000 to Phillips’ vehicle and $2,000 to Wittenauer’s vehicle.

Fidel Morales-Hernandez, 27, of Osceola, was cited for no driver’s license, failure to maintain control, reckless driving and OWI after an accident 8:56 p.m. Sept. 11 in the 900 block of Blakes Lane.

According to an Osceola Police report, Morales-Hernandez, driving a 2001 Mercury, was northbound on Blakes Lane when he struck a driveway marker at 912 Blakes Ln. with the rear of his vehicle, he then lost control and exited the roadway to the north, driving through the yard and into the southwest corner of 911 Blakes Ln. damaging the garage as he drove through it and damaging the garbage can and a 2011 Mazda that the flying garbage can left dents and scratches on. The garage serviced both 909 and 911 Blakes Ln. He then left the area.

Estimated damages were $500 to the 2011 Mazda, $20,000 to Kading Properties residence 909 and 911 Blakes Ln. and $5,000 to Morales-Hernandez’s vehicle.

Fidel Morales-Hernandez, 27, of Osceola, was cited for two simple misdemeanors after an accident 8:57 p.m. Sept. 11 on East Fayette Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Morales-Hernandez, driving a 2001 Mercury, left a residence and scene of the accident he caused on Blakes Lane and drove through the property of 231 E. Fayettte St. sideswiping a tree then striking the residence of 233 E. Fayette St. He then fled on foot and was later found and admitted to causing both accidents.

Estimated damage was $35,000 to Mickey Thomas’s house and garage at 233 E. Fayette St. and $25,000 to Morales-Hernadez’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 9:10 a.m. Sept. 12 at Pilot Truck Stop.

According to an Osceola Police report, Mohamed K. Nsougan, 40, of Illinois, driving a 2004 Volvo semi, was backing into a parking spot at Pilot Truck Stop and struck a legally parked 2018 International semi.

Estimated damages were $12,000 to the 2012 International semi and $5 to Nsougan’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:17 p.m. Sept. 13 at the intersection of 195th Avenue and Doyle Street.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Billie Jo Henrichs, 53, of Thayer, driving a 2011 Ford westbound on Doyle Street, was making a righthand turn onto 195th Avenue at the same time that Bruce Dean Shannon, 58, of Murray, driving a 1999 Chevy eastbound on Doyle Street, was making a lefthand turn onto 195th Street and failed to yeild with the right-of-way and struck Henrichs’ vehicle which then drove off the roadway into the northwest ditch.

Estimated damage was $3,000 to Henrichs’ vehicle.
