CARSPA meeting minutes

CARSPA met for their regular monthly meeting 9:30 a.m. Sep. 10 at the Osceola Senior Center following social time at 9 a.m. Hostesses Louise Mason and Sharon Cameron provided assorted kinds of cookies.

President Linda Foland opened the business meeting and the members recited the pledge and sang “Grace”, accompanied by Jeri Lytton. Linda read an article entitled “Rondell for September”.

There were nine members present. Minutes from the August 13, 2018, meeting were read by Venita Escher. The Treasurer’s report was given by Sharon Cameron. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were approved.

Updates on some member’s health issues were shared. Several cards and notes were sent during the month. The members signed a birthday card for Karen Adwell.

The Hopeville Music Festival celebrated the 40th anniversary and honored Duane Henrichs.

Due to Tom Murr’s death and cancellation of his September program on Wood Turning, the September program was modified to having the group visit Ann Burrell in the nursing home following the business meeting.

Oct. 3-4 will be the state IRSPA meeting in Iowa City. May 9, 2019, will be the District 4 Meeting in Creston. Everyone is encouraged to attend these informative and entertaining meetings.

Venita Escher shared the invitation from the Creston Area Retired School Personnel to attend the September 11 presentation by Michael Fitzgerald, state treasurer, to discuss the status and future of IPERS.

Any suggested changes and program ideas in the CARSPA booklets for next year were requested.

Linda Foland closed the meeting at 10:15 a.m. by reading an article “From the Mouths”. Jeri Lytton shared a funny story.
