Five members of each the Interstate 35 Roadrunners and Central Decatur Cardinals baseball teams grabbed spots on the recently-released all-Pride of Iowa baseball team.
For I-35, Darian Brown and and Brayden Egli both nabbed spots on the first team. CD's Carter Boothe and Tyler Davis snagged spots on the first team as well.
Brown, a unanimous pick, posted a .369 batting average with 27 RBIs, two home runs and nine doubles. On the hill he owned a 4-2 record in 52 and 1/3 innings pitched, a 2.14 ERA, 77 K's, 32 hits allowed and a .138 opponents batting average and played shortstop when not pitching.
Boothe led the Cards with a scalding-hot .447 batting average and .520 on base percentage. He stole 33 bases, hit eight doubles, a homer, drove in 19 RBIs and scored 38 times. He threw 33 2/3 innings, owned a 4-4 record, a 4.57 ERA and 28 strikeouts. Boothe spent most of his time in the field scooping grounders at shortstop and owned a .934 fielding percentage.
Davis, who primarily played catcher and threw out 15 attempted stealers, hit .349 with five homers, 20 RBIs, six doubles and owned a .504 on base percentage.
Egli hit at a .351 average with four doubles, a triple, 13 RBIs and 10 stolen bases while scoring a team-high 26 runs. He played namely shortstio and center field.
On the second team were Mason Cassady, Gideon Smith and Spencer Pontolilo for the Roadrunners, as were Rylon O'Dell, Ricky Marucs and Kolby Hewlett for the Cards.
Cassady played some outifield, hit .314 with 17 runs scored and stole 10 bases. Cassady also pitched 40 innings with a 3-3 record, 3.68 ERA and 33 strikeouts.
Smith hit .318 with five doubles and 23 RBIs. Smith also picked up two wins on the mound, but mostly played catcher.
Pontolilo hit .219 with a .351 OBP while namely manning the outfield.
O'Dell pitched 45 2/3 innings for the Cards, posted a 2-3 record, a 3.99 ERA and struck out 39 batters. He hit .241 with four doubles and 20 RBIs.
Marcus hit .341 with four doubles, a team-high 26 RBIs and owned a 2-1 pitching record in 23 2/3 innings, struck out 18 and owned a 2.91 ERA.
Hewlett's workload was heaviest among Cardinals pitchers with 53 innings in which he owned a 2.91 ERA 85 punchouts and allowed opponents to hit .169 against him. At the plate, he hit .322 with five doubles and 21 RBIs.
