Summer at the Barn

Harvest Barn has special hours this summer and has brought back the sale of fresh, home-grown vegetables.

To finish out this summer season, the Harvest Barn, owned by Jason and Amy Boyer, continues with its special hours on Fridays of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until September.

This summer, the Harvest Barn has fresh, Boyer-grown vegetables available along with the usual selection of home-raised all-natural pork and Limousin beef. The tomatoes, sweet corn, melons and more are all grown at the Boyers' home. The family hasn't sold home-grown produce for 18 years, so this comeback has been years in the making.

"We got away from it to focus on the fall stuff, but the kids wanted to raise produce so now we're back to it," said Amy.

The Harvest Barn's liquor license has been approved so they will have Iowa wines available within a couple of weeks. Tassel Ridge Winery and Wooden Wheel Vineyard wines will be available for sale.

"We are getting a wine license in hopes to be able to serve a larger variety of Iowa wines," said Amy.

The Boyers are busy with the Clarke County Fair and soon Iowa State Fair, so all summer events for the barn have already passed. The next big thing on the agenda at the Harvest Barn is the Fun Farm and Corn Maze Sept. 1. There will be new additions to the Harvest Barn's regular amenities debuted at this time as well.
