Sippin’ and Paintin’ at Your Sweet Pickin’s Boutique

Your Sweet Pickin’s Boutique is hosting a local artist for its Sippin’ and Paintin’ event 1-4 p.m. Sunday April 29 on the upper level of Your Sweet Pickin’s Boutique.

The cost for the class is $40 and all materials are included along with snacks and drinks. Reservations must be made at Your Sweet Pickin’s Boutique.

The artist who will be leading the class is Karen Johnson of Art by K. There will be two pieces of Johnson’s art to choose from, and participants will be given instructions on how to recreate the work.

Johnson has been painting since 1974 and is on the Clarke Area Arts Council. She sells her paintings at shows, online, and at Your Sweet Pickin’s Boutique. She has done demonstrations for multiple events and taught classes.

“I love to paint and I love to help people so this is fun,” said Johnson.

Painting is not the only kind of art Johnson does. She makes and sells jewelry, and can sew and crochet, but painting is her passion and outlet.

Leading art classes is something she likes to do and she is hoping to keep classes going at least monthly at Your Sweet Pickin’s.

“This is so enjoyable because the people get together, there’s young and old, and they can just have a good time,” said Johnson. “I want them to enjoy it, I want them to have a good time, mostly I want to intrigue them so that maybe they will continue on. It’s so enjoyable to see people do something they didn’t think they could do.”
