Grand View University's Sarah Roemer headed to Phi Beta Lambda Nationals

Grand View University’s Phi Beta Lambda sent Sarah Roemer to the Iowa Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference. Sarah Roemer is currently Grand View University’s Secretary and 2017-2018 State of Iowa’s Phi Beta Lambda Vice President.

Sarah Roemer competed in three events: Public Speaking, Job Interview, and Future Business Educator. Sarah received first place in Public Speaking, first place in Job Interview, and first place in Future Business Educator. Sarah also campaigned to be re-elected as the State of Iowa’s Phi Beta Lambda Vice President. With the help of local chapters who attended the conference, Sarah was re-elected and sworn in to be the 2018-2019 State of Iowa’s Phi Beta Lambda Vice President.

Sarah Roemer is currently a sophomore at Grand View University double majoring in Accounting and Finance. With the help of PBL and her family, she will be graduating April of 2019, a year earlier than expected. Sarah plans to go on to receive her Master’s in Accounting and CPA designation.

“I am honored to compete with amazing competitors who I now call friends,” said Sarah Roemer. “I was not expecting to place in any of my events that I competed in, but rather was cheering on other PBL members to place to go on to nationals. I was blessed to receive first place in all three events I competed in. I put a lot of time and effort into preparing my materials and practicing my presentations.”

Sarah also stated, “I decided to campaign for re-election to the State of Iowa’s Phi Beta Lambda Vice President position for 2018-2019, because I am passionate about this organization. Being a part of PBL has changed my life, provides me with endless opportunities, and helps me follow my dreams. I did lobby against another candidate to receive the position. However, I realized that whatever the results were, I was honored just to be a part of this organization. Fortunately, local chapters across Iowa saw the leader in me and re-elected me as the State of Iowa’s Phi Beta Lambda Vice President. Being re-elected provides endless opportunities and is a true honor.”

Sarah continues, “I want to thank Grand View University’s Phi Beta Lambda members, professors, students, other Iowa PBL chapters, friends and family for supporting and encouraging me to follow my dreams.”

Sarah Roemer qualified to go to the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Public Speaking, Job Interview, and Future Business Educator. Congratulations Sarah.

Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference will be held in Baltimore, Maryland, this June. Students from the United States and other countries will compete for recognition in their competitive events. Over 1,200 students will attend this conference.

Sarah Roemer is the daughter of Matt and Dana Roemer of Osceola. She currently carries a GPA of 3.91 and has been on the Presidential Academic List two semesters (GPA of 4.0) and Dean’s Academic List one semester (GPA of 3.5 to 4.0). Sarah has also been inducted to Grand View University’s Alpha Chi National Honor Society. Next fall, Sarah will be the President of Grand View University’s Phi Beta Lambda chapter.

Congratulations Sarah Roemer for qualifying for nationals and being re-elected for State of Iowa’s Phi Beta Lambda Vice President.
