Masters, Atwood earn all-state

Two Central Decatur girls basketball players rounded out their junior seasons with all-state honors passed down by the IPSWA.

Masters of Central Decatur was recognized as a first-team all-state player by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association while averaging 18.9 points per game over the course of the season. The junior also pulled 7.3 rebounds per game and led the team in assists and steals with 109 and 111, respectively. She also returned 66 shots back to sender.

Masters was named second-team all-state last year by the Iowa Newspaper Association.

Masters garnered all-tournament honors at the state tournament.

Atwood, also of Central Decatur, received second team honors for scoring 20.9 points per game for the Cardinals. The junior pulled down 140 rebounds over the course of the season, dished out 90 assists and striped 68 steals. The 5-10 guard shot 62.9 percent from the floor over the course of the season.

Atwood garnered third-team all-state recognition last year by the INA.
