Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 1:35 p.m. Jan. 30 at The Eagles Lodge.

According to an Osceola Police report, Daniel Jay Pearcy, 49, of Osceola, driving a 2012 Chevy, was preparing to back out of his parking spot when Richard Armand Gunderson, 81, of Osceola, driving a 2016 Toyota, pulled up behind Pearcy’s vehicle. Gunderson told officers he had pulled up to the door to let his wife carry something into the building, when Pearcy had gotten in his vehicle there was no one behind him and he hadn’t seen Gunderson pull up to the building.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Gunderson’s vehicle and $500 to Pearcy’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:20 a.m. Feb. 1 at an intersection of two alleys.

According to an Osceola Police report, Noe Garcia Arevalo, 29, of Osceola, driving a 2013 Chevy westbound in an alley between Jefferson Street and Cass Street collided with Kimberly Kay Bethards, 48, of Osceola, driving a 2013 Ford southbound in an alley between Kossuth Street and Adams Street. The vehicles collided at the intersection of the two alleys. There was a garage on the northeast corner that obscured the vision of both drivers.

Estimated damage was $4,000 to Arevalo’s vehicle and $3,000 to Bethard’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 2:50 p.m. Feb. 5 at the intersection of South Fillmore Street and Highway 34.

According to an Osceola Police report, Branden Alejandro Chavez Ramos, 17, of Osceola, driving a 2008 Honda, attempted to stop at the stop sign headed south on Fillmore Street and due to slick road conditions, he was unable to stop the vehicle and slid into Deanna Michelle Fowler, 32, of Osceola, driving a 2008 Dodge.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Fowler’s vehicle and $3,500 to Chaves Ramos’ vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 4 p.m. Feb. 5 on exit ramp 33 off Interstate 35.

According to an Osceola Police report, Carl Christian Roth, 31, of Cedar Rapids, driving a 2003 Honda, took exit 33 off of Interstate 35 and the vehicle lost traction and slid off the road into the east ditch. The vehicle struck a sign post as it left the roadway, breaking the pole at the base, which then fell onto the vehicle.

Estimated damage was $2,500 to the sign post and $5,000 to Roth’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 6:10 a.m. Saturday on Warren Avenue.

Sang Thawng, 42, of Urbandale, driving a 2002 Acura, was northbound on Warren Avenue when his vehicle was struck by Turner Scott Paul, 26, of Osceola, driving a 1997 Ford, as he was turning south out of the Interstate Casey’s parking lot and slid onto Warren Avenue due to slick road conditions.

Estimated damage was $3,000 to Thawng’s vehicle and $2,500 to Paul’s vehicle.
